In the context of the reinforcement of the sanitary measures aimed at containing the health crisis linked to COVID-19, the specific scheme of supplementary aid for self-employed professional artists and intermittent workers in the entertainment industry is reintroduced until 28 February 2022.

As part of its program of public commissions for musical compositions, the Ministry of Culture has awarded nine commissions for musical compositions to Luxembourg composers or resident composers for the 2021-2022 season.

On 8 December 2021, the awards ceremony for the National Literary Competition 2021 took place at the National Literature Centre in the presence of the winners. The government has just passed two financing bills to support the realization of the first phase of the new "NeiSchmelz" residential area in Dudelange with half a billion euros. This year, none of the four traditions, that where first to be listed on the national inventory of intangible cultural heritage in Luxembourg, can take place in the usual way.

In 2003, UNESCO adopted an important convention to protect and safeguard this rich heritage. The Ministry of Culture of Luxembourg introduced a register for the national intangible heritage in 2007, with four inscriptions a year later.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designates as intangible cultural heritage ("Immateriellt Kulturierwen”, IKI) oral traditions and forms of expression, including language, performing arts, social customs, rituals and festive events, knowledge and practices relating to nature, and crafts that people themselves consider as part of their cultural heritage.
