Supplementary aid for self-employed professional artists and intermittent workers in the entertainment industry reintroduced until 28 February 2022

In the context of the reinforcement of the sanitary measures aimed at containing the health crisis linked to COVID-19, the specific scheme of supplementary aid for self-employed professional artists and intermittent workers in the entertainment industry is reintroduced until 28 February 2022. Created in 2020, these aids aim to compensate self-employed professional artists and intermittent entertainers whose sources of income are directly affected by the new legislative provisions concerning gatherings to deal with the pandemic.

On the 22nd December 2021, the Government Council therefore approved the draft Grand-Ducal Regulation reintroducing until the 28th February 2022 the time period during which these additional aids can be used. The harmful impact of the health crisis on the cultural activities of self-employed professional artists and intermittent workers may lead to additional aid for them, in accordance with the amended law of 19 December 2014 relating to (1) social measures for the benefit of self-employed professional artists and intermittent workers in the entertainment industry and (2) the promotion of artistic creation.

This additional aid scheme guarantees, among other things:

Social aid for self-employed professional artists, with the possibility of paying monthly social aid up to the minimum social wage for qualified persons (instead of 50% of the minimum social wage for qualified persons, in "normal" times);

Additional daily allowances for intermittent workers in the entertainment industry, up to 20 daily allowances per month in case of involuntary inactivity, compared to 121 daily allowances in "normal" times.

The relevant procedures will be published shortly on guichet.lu.
